Achievements: Fishing for 32 years thanks to my dad getting me started young. Fished some tournaments, and in 2003 jumped it to fish a full slate of 22 tourneys. That first year I had 4 victories and several top 10s which I am very proud of. Also own and operate a fishing website for Virginia fishermen that has had over 70000 visits since I started it in 2005.

Five Best Lakes/Rivers: Tidal James and Chickahominy Rivers, Lake Gaston, Buggs Island, Potomac River, Lake Chesdin
Favorite Fishing Spot: Lake Toho, Kissimmee, Florida. I have fished there several times on vacation and absolutely love it.
Favorite Fishing Technique: Flipping and pitching jigs and creature baits, Secret Weapon Spinnerbaits, shallow cranking
Pro’s Pointers: I have a few tips to pass on. First and foremost take a kid fishing whenever you can. Thankfully my dad got me into fishing at a very young age. I can honestly say that my love of fishing kept me out of a lot of trouble growing up. My children are very young and I take them out every chance I get even if it is to one of the ponds in my neighborhood.
Second when you buy tackle don’t be cheap, I cannot tell you how many times I hear guys on my website complaining that they can t catch fish and ask me how I am successful. One very common thing I find is that I am simply using better tackle. Don’t go and buy that $1 spinnerbait, or crankbait at the local mega mart, you will spend less money in the long term, and catch more fish if you will just be smart and spend a little more on a quality product like the Secret Weapon spinnerbait.
Third, practice casting whenever you get a chance. My primary tactics are flipping and pitching. These tactics take a good amount of skill to master so I will practice in my yard when I can t get to the lake. I set up a target using a Frisbee or can and work at consistently placing my bait on or in it. Don’t expect to get out on the water and be good. If you don’t practice you are going to pay by catching fewer fish due to poorly executed cast, so practice.
