What Do Anglers Like You Think of Their SWLs?
I won the March 25 ABA tournament on Lake Texoma. One keeper came on a big SW white spinnerbait with the biggest willow I could find with the XPS white shrimp as a trailer. The shrimp was hooked backwords and the tail flapped like a paddletail worm! ...These really are the best spinnerbaits I have ever fished, I had [a top national brand] as a sponsor a few years ago, and their hooks would have to be straightened out all the time, not to mention many lost fish. I am very happy with SWL.

I got my [Sidearm] kit today and I like it a lot. It looks like the Shannon dual-arm spinner bait I used as kid to catch my first bass in Michigan. I am very impressed with this line of spinner baits.

We just had an event at Lake Shafer over this last weekend and I finished third and caught all of my fish on a SWL spinner bait. I dont know if you are using them yet, but I have had a good amount of success including a win at Green River in Kentucky in which all of my fish were caught on a SWL chartreuse with gold and silver turtleback blades. As you already know, I won the $500.00 from SWL back in the spring when I won the event at KY Lake and with part of that money I elected to advance my Special Ops Kit to, as Joe called it, a SUPER KIT in which I ordered about 100 additional blades in every size and style available. Then when I won at Green River, Joe and I negotiated a deal for the $50.00 lure pack in which he sent me extra bodies of various sizes, blades, skirts and rattles to again upgrade the [ABA] SpcOps Kit. Unfortunately and I guess Im being a little greedy, my name was not pulled for the $500.00 for that month.
Having this UPGRADED SUPER KIT gives me the ability to create just about any spinner bait option known to mankind in just minutes, and while sitting in my boat. I have no financial or Pro Staff obligation to SWL, but I truly think that Joe and his team have created and put out the best spinner bait going right now. The quick change ability along with the multi color and size bodies makes it a breeze to change baits. I keep everything in one of the SWL boxes, which is now stuffed to the point that it will barely close, and all I do is open my Ranger compartment, pull it out, and in less then a minute I have created the bait for the condition, no matter the condition. I plan on making one more trip to KY Lake before the Nationals... and you can bet your boat Ill have a couple of SWL options tied on all weekend.
For those who have not tried Secret Weapon products, they are TRULY missing out, but Im not going to speak too loud until after the [ABA] Nationals this fall, because I will be throwing them then as well and I want them to remain my SECRET WEAPON until at least then.

Friday evening the wife and I went to Priest to fish from 7ish to around 10 pm. I decided to fish the little pocket at the ramp and it was not long before a Secret Weapon Buzzbait hooked up on a few short fish. After the little rain shower let up we headed down lake to fish some points and ledges. I picked up a few more on the buzzbait and right at dark I changed over to a jig and the wife tied on a Secret Weapon Spinnerbait and commenced to whacked em. She threw the 5/17-oz Chartreuse Shiner SWL into about 6 ft of water and slow-rolled it to the drop and thats where they ate the spinnerbait. At one point she had 5 fish on the next 5 casts. She quickly told me I needed to change baits. ...Before I knew it she was up 13 fish to my 3. I have never seen this before on a spinnerbait, but she was using a trailer hook and she had 2 KY spots on one cast. One Spot was on the main hook and the other on the trailer hook. ...It was a sight to see her catching fish one after another.

Well it is spinnerbait time, I went to Sardis today and probably caught 30 on spinnerbaits. I really cant begin to express how excited I am about the Secret Weapon spinnerbaits I have. They are really awesome. I believe you are really going to turn the Spinnerbait industry on its ear. The vibration and lift created by these baits are like no other Spinnerbait I have ever used.
Wes Carter, Collierville, Tennessee, April 2006
I tried it in my pond and found it to be the hardest vibrating spinnerbait I have ever used. Caught about 10 on it and my fish are pretty educated. They were hitting shad on top and I could really burn the bait without it rolling over. Its got to be good in stained water as much vibration as it produces. Really a unique design and something the fish havent seen or heard before. He also showed me a neat trick about putting a blade on the rear hook of a crankbait for a different look.
... [These] lures are a radical step forward in spinnerbaits and we are getting in at the beginning of what I think will become one of the hottest baits on the market. Ive always been very secretive about a new bait that works and didnt want anybody else to know about it, but I'm going to share this one with my friends.
Jimmy Yarborough, Alabama, December 2005
Ive been fishing buzzbaits for more years than I would like to admit, but I have never had a buzzbait that tracks as straight as this new Secret Weapon Buzzrbait. You know how frustrating it is when you cast across a target and want to bring the bait straight back across but it tacks way off to the side? Well it doesnt happen with this bait.
I like to slow buzzbaits down to a crawl on the clear deep waters on Center Hill, I have found that the Colorado blade that Im using behind the buzz blade keep the bait up on top like no bait I have ever used. My tournament partner Jason and I have already enjoyed great results with these baits. The bass just try to kill them. And the heavier stainless steel frame helps this bait hold up under rigorous usage. Believe me this is a winner!
Tennessee Bass Guide Billy Campbell, April 2005
On Saturday I had my first experience using the Secret Weapon spinnerbaits and I was very impressed. I caught all 4 of my keepers on the Secret Weapon. My boater caught all his 5 keepers on the same rigged out spinnerbait. We caught over 16 lbs on that color combination of blades and skirt! Those fish would not hit any other color combination. My boater didnt change his blades and skirt until I had my second solid keeper in the boat.
Thank you for making a wonderful product that actually catches fish and not just fisherman!
Rhonda Ford, Director ABA District 88, November 2005
I went fishing Monday on the Arkansas River, Pine Bluff and used the Secret Weapon spinnerbait for the 1st time. I caught 5 fish during this trip and all were on the white skirted/single willow leaf blade in chrome. I fished other baits such as crankbait, brushhog and jig/pig without catching anything except a drum. I will certainly have it as one of my baits for my Saturday tournament.
Tommy Hibdon, November 2005
What do you want or expect from a buzzbait? A different appealing sound... more flash and froth right above the hook... slower retrieves... better lure control... more hits and hooks ups? Well if that's what youre looking for in a buzzbait you need to add the Secret Weapon Buzzrbait to your arsenal. I make my living on the water and I can assure you that buzzbaits just dont get any better than these.
I just started using these spinner baits a few months ago and they are great spinner baits. They have an awesome quick change blade configuration so you get to choose what blades you want on your bait. They hold up extremely well and I would recommend them to everybody that throws spinnerbaits or has ever wanted too. They cost $6.99-9.99 depending on how many blades you buy but they are worth every penny. ...You cant beat a USA made bait.
Blake Smith, Tennessee, October 2004
Had my first experience with the Secret Weapon Spinner Bait today and I am impressed with its performance. I was out scouting for Saturdays tournament and had concocted a combination of my own using the Kit I had purchased. I boated three keepers and one short fish in less than 1/2 hour. I put my rod up and left the area and came home. Needless to say I will be back there Saturday with my Secret Weapon in hopes of even better performance.

I took my guide service partner Gil along with me for Test #1. He fished standard spinnerbaits and I fished Secret Weapons. I smoked him! But Gil is not into spinnerbaits as much as I am so I thought Maybe its just a confidence thing or maybe I hit the spots first and got the active fish. So I devised Test #2. Giving the Secret Weapon to clients that have NEVER fished spinnerbaits, I paid particular attention to how well they did. These clients that had never fished a spinnerbait in their lives were catching more fish than I!
My son and I were muskie fishing on a clear, northern Wisconsin lake. We both cast at the same time, me with the Secret Weapon (it just happened that way, honest!) and Jim with a regular spinnerbait. Within a couple cranks of the reel handle, I could see the wake of a muskie following Jims lure. I watched in astonishment as the muskie veered from Jims lure, sped over and slammed my Secret Weapon! THAT told me there was something special about this bait.
I have been using Secret Weapon Spinnerbaits for a couple years now. I feel they are the best spinnerbait on the market. The patented clevis that the blade spins on beats even the best ball bearings. They are made with top line materials. The one thing that sold me was how easily the blades will turn, even at very slow speeds. And you can easily change the blades to whatever combination you want. And all the colors will drive you crazy. :-) They are a little expensive, but I think they are worth it.
The people that work there are the best. They really care about and take care of their customers. Their service is top notch.
Larry Runkle, Arkansas, November 2005
If you think youve seen the latest in spinnerbait technology, think again. If you want the proverbial edge on the water, tie on a Secret Weapon Spinnerbait!
I use the baits because they catch fish. The first time I used the baits I got onto a great spinnerbait bite and because I could change my bait to match conditions quickly I was able to take full advantage of the bait and placed in the top five in the tournament. I also caught two fish over 6# that day. My non-boater was throwing the same color combination as I was but I was able to fish mine slower and still get the vibration and action that triggered strikes where his bait didnt....
Where are all my old spinnerbaits? I really dont know. I gave them all away and it was closer to 200 baits. If I could have got half of what I paid for them I could buy several new rods or reels. If you look in my boat now, you will find one small box of Secret Weapon Spinnerbaits. I have enough parts in that one small box to build over 5000 spinnerbaits.
I wouldnt use them in my guide business or in tournaments where no fish means no money if I didnt think they were the best.
I was one of Bobs Beta testers. I received a dozen or so and put them through hell, so that I could tell the folks at SW what was good and what was bad and to make recommendation on possible modifications. The boys at SW listened very carefully to all the field testers (both pro & am) and modified the bait until it [was] perfected.
... Secret Weapon is one you need to have in your tackle box. You can add or subtract blades easily and are perfect for customizing your lure for a specific condition. I especially love them for deep water because they helicopter better and in the spring and fall using multiple blades to emulate a small school of shad. The fish are not used to them and therefore you will score more fish.
Craig Baugher, Michigan, October 2004
I use the Secret Weapon spinnerbaits, and they work great. Because there is no wire arm that the blades sit on, they never get out of tune. Also the blades compress towards the hook easier than a normal spinnerbait so you get better hookups. Finally the blades snap on and off in seconds so you can make any combination or change size of blades on the fly. They are the only lures I have used out of my spinnerbait box for the last year as I think they are much better than any major brand out there.
I took my father in-law up to Mohawksin last weekend for our annual fall muskie outing. I was throwing a Secret Weapon spinnerbait in firetiger. In 4 hours I boated 2 nice muskies and a bunch of pike and smallmouth. My father in-law threw every spinnerbait he had in his tackle box but didnt catch anything. When it was time to leave he told me that for Christmas he wanted whatever kind of spinnerbait it was that I was fishing as it must be some kind of magic lure.
Gary Wilber, Wisconsin, November 2004
...my experiences with these baits tell me that they are very strong! I have a hard time hooking or unhooking the clip so dont really think a fish can do it? Also the strength of the whole bait is excellent! I hooked a tree underwater and that the water was only 3-4 deep it was cold besides I had braid line on so I pulled & pulled and finally got the whole tree in close enough to unhook the swl spinnrbait! SWL lures are not miracle baits but for me they are worth the $$. and also catch bass!
Frank Linsinbigler, Pennsylvania, November 2005
Im really impressed with the buzz baits, first time seeing the eyes in the place they should be, like a dying shad should look like with one eye looking down. Once again, so much great detail in these baits....
Ricky Ingram, Louisiana, November 2005
You will not find any other spinnerbait in my boat! I have so much confidence in SWL that I wouldnt even waste my valuable time fishing any other.
All the conventional spinnerbaits I had, went for rock bottom price on eBay. The rest I gave away.
I was fishing Lake Barkley one night with a S.W. spinnerbait (field testing, Prototype at the time) behind another angler. I fished down the same stretch of bank with in sight of the other angler. As I fished I caught two or three LM in the 3-4 lb. range and a few smallies in the 2-3 lb. range. Not to mention all the smaller fish in-between. I watched the other angler and could see under the lights and hear the sound of his spinnerbait blades clanging. The angler stopped and I slowly fished up to him.
The angler said I have been watching you catch all those fish, what in the world are you using?"
I replied, A Secret Weapon spinnerbait.
He replied I bet its a secret bait, it cant be a spinnerbait! Ive been throwing a spinnerbait down this whole stretch of bank. Ive only caught a few small bass.
I replied, Its a spinnerbait made by Secret Weapon Lures. Its brand new a prototype that Im field testing.
He asked to see it, and I showed it to him. He asked me where he could buy them. I told him that this bait was not for sale yet, but he could order some similar baits online. He asked me if I would sell the bait to him. I replied No, I cant. I am field-testing the bait and am not allowed to sell it.
He replied I bet youll sell it to me! Here is a $20 bill.
I told him I was sorry, but I couldnt accept any kind of price. He got mad, said a few words I wont repeat. Then pulled up his trolling motor, started this outboard and floored it right next to me on down the water. I was washed up on the bank and had use my net to push myself off the bank.
I guess he really wanted that bait!
